lyrics
Most days I walk in the woods and nobody sees me
I see myself
As a great pretender in grownups' clothing
Up on tiptoe by the water's edge
And it was quiet for so long that when I met you
It had to be a sign
And you looked like someone that I would've dreamed up
We even had the exact same colored eyes
And it's true that I'd been warned about
Turning men into gods, treating love like it's vanity so
We came clean and I've been busy
It's all right if you don't miss me anymore
I used to be so open, I'd read my horoscope and
I believed some things were meant to happen, now I'm not so sure
Cause I keep on breaking my own heart
Went to a party near your apartment, I thought about calling
I almost did
But there on the sidewalk, I spied a puddle
Being with you was just like falling in
Yeah it's true that I'd been warned about
Turning men into gods, treating love like it's vanity so
We came clean and I've been busy
It's all right if you don't miss me anymore
I used to be so open, I'd read my horoscope and
I believed some things were meant to happen, now I'm not so sure
Cause I keep on breaking my own heart
I've been an echo in my own mind
But I'm a hero in some stories I could tell
And you're a liar, but so am I, love
And you don't know, you don't know me all that well
I didn't hear when I was warned about
Turning men into gods, treating love like it's vanity so
We came clean and I've been busy
It's all right if you don't miss me anymore
I used to be so open, I'd read my horoscope and
I believed some things were meant to happen, now I'm not so sure
Cause I keep on breaking my own heart

I've been listening to this album, and others, for a while but the live performances of 'Firecracker' and 'Wild Turkey' , as well ad 'Darlin' Cory', at the Transatlantic Sessions show at the RFH was another level. Live music is the best. The whole concert was insanely good. Shame not to hear 'Black Myself' in that setting but it was all near perfection as it was. oldjembo
